How to connect your checkout and see sales per video

How the sale comes back to the video that sold it, a step-by-step setup, and the test that confirms everything works.

Without your checkout connected, VSL Max knows how many people pressed play and how far they watched, but not how much the VSL sold. And without sales, the AI can only optimize for what happens before them. Connecting your checkout is the step that makes everything else count.

How the sale comes back to the video

  1. When someone clicks a checkout link on your page, the player adds a tracking parameter to the link that says which video, which version and at what second the click happened.
  2. The checkout stores that parameter with the order.
  3. When the sale is approved, the checkout notifies VSL Max via webhook (an automatic call to an address you register), and the parameter goes along with it.
  4. VSL Max reads the parameter and ties the sale to the video, the version and the moment of the click.

Step by step

  1. Create the conversion. In the VSL Max dashboard, create a conversion, choose your checkout platform and copy the webhook URL.
  2. Register the webhook in your checkout. On the platform, paste the URL into the webhooks (or postback) area and select the approved-sale event.
  3. Enter your checkout domain. Back in VSL Max, tell it your checkout's domain. That's how the player knows which links on the page to tag.
  4. Save the checkout link on the video. With it, the starter kit's buy button gets turned on.

If the checkout link is outside the domain you entered, the player won't tag the click and the sale will arrive without knowing which video it came from. It's the most common mistake.

Where to add the webhook

Every platform has its own webhooks area, sometimes called postback. Paste the webhook URL VSL Max generated there and pick the approved-sale event. If you can’t find it, search for “webhook” or “postback” in your checkout’s settings. The dashboard shows the platform’s instructions when you create the conversion.

Right now, sales arrive tied to the video, the version and the second of the click end to end on Hotmart, Monetizze, Hubla and Cakto. On the other checkouts in the catalog, run the test purchase at the end of this guide before you trust the number.

Checkouts not on the list

Use Zapier, Make or n8n: the automation receives the sale from your checkout and delivers it to VSL Max. For this to work, your checkout has to store the link's tracking parameter and send it with the sale. Check its documentation. And enter your checkout domain in VSL Max, as with the others.

Test before you trust it

  1. Open the published sales page, press play and click the buy button.
  2. Check that the checkout link opened with the tracking parameter in the address.
  3. Make a test purchase (or use the platform's test mode, if it has one).
  4. See whether the sale showed up in the VSL Max dashboard, tied to the right video.

Revenue and conversions

A sale can come with an order bump and an upsell. That's why the dashboard separates two numbers:

  • Revenue adds up everything the sale brought in.
  • Conversions count only the main product, so the rate doesn't get inflated.

With that in place, the AI starts judging tests by what matters: the sale.
