Team and roles: how to invite and what each role can do
Invite people to the account as Admin or Viewer and see what each role can do.
The two roles
Everyone on the team has one of these access types:
- Admin: edits videos, settings and conversions, and manages the team, integrations, API keys and the plan.
- Viewer: sees videos, analytics and reports, with no edit permission. Change buttons show as locked, with the reason on hover.
Some areas don't even show up for Viewers: the API and Audit tabs and the invoice history are admin only.
How to invite
- Open Settings › Team and click Invite member. Only admins see that button enabled.
- Fill in the person's name and email.
- Choose the access type: Admin or Viewer.
- Click Send invite.
An email address can only be active in one account. If the address already has access to VSL Max, the invite is refused.
The invitee's first sign-in
The invited person gets an email with a temporary access code. On the first sign-in they enter their email and that code, and VSL Max asks them to create their permanent password.
If the email doesn't arrive, ask them to check their spam folder and the address typed in the invite.
Change the role or remove
- In the team list, click Manage on the person's row.
- Change the access type and click Save, or click Remove from team.
Whoever is removed loses access to the account. What that person did stays recorded in the Audit log.
Caveats
- The account always needs at least one admin. If only one person is an admin, their role can't be lowered and their access can't be removed.
- Prefer Viewer for people who only follow results, such as a media buyer or a partner.
- A Read & write API key acts as an admin, whatever the role of the person who created it. See API keys.
