Tracking pixel on the video

Your account pixels fire on every video. The Tracking pixel row shows which ones are active on this video.

What a pixel is

A pixel is the code that tells an ad or analytics platform what a visitor did on your page. In VSL Max, the player itself fires the events, right on your sales page. You don't need to paste pixel code for each video.

VSL Max sends events to two places: the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) and Google Analytics 4.

Where to set it up

Pixels belong to the account, not to the video. You add them in Settings › Integrations and they apply to every video. Changing them there updates videos that are already live, with no change to the embed code.

What shows on the video

  1. In your video library, click the video and go to the Settings tab.
  2. In the AI Maximization card, under Your conversion, look at the Tracking pixel row.

The row shows the pixels this video already fires. A pixel marked Paused is saved but doesn't send events. From the row's menu you can Add a new pixel or See pixels in Integrations. You can't pick pixels per video: the account's active pixels fire on every video, including this one.

Which events the player sends

  • Meta Pixel: custom events at the start of the pitch and at 10, 25, 50, 75, 90 and 100% of watch time, once per page load. InitiateCheckout fires on a click on a checkout link, if you turn that option on for the pixel.
  • Google Analytics 4: video_progress with video_percent at 10, 25, 50, 75 and 90% of watch time, and begin_checkout on a click on a checkout link. The player doesn't send page_view.

Watch time is the actual time of video played, not the position of the progress bar.

How to check it

  1. Open your live sales page, with the video in the script embed.
  2. Press play and watch a few seconds with sound on.
  3. In Meta Events Manager, use the test events area. In Google Analytics, open the realtime report.
  4. Progress events show up as the video plays. Click the buy button to see the checkout event.

Common issues

  • No events arrive. Events only fire with the script embed, not the iframe. The Meta or Google library only loads after the first play.
  • The page already has the pixel. That's fine: if the page already has the pixel or gtag, the player uses what's there.
  • The row says there's no pixel. The account has no pixel yet. Add one in Settings › Integrations.
